The science behind the 3D resolution of the StringStation is exquisite. It utilizes twelve custom magnetic pickups strategically placed at harmonic 'hot spots' on the instruments wide array of forty strings. It allows a cascade effect of one note harmonically ‘exciting’ the resonance of many others that each have their own independent sounds, outputs and positions in the surround sound panorama. It reveals a 3D sound stage that has never been harnessed before, natural and immence. The StringStation is an authentic sonic expedition into the physics of 3D sound creation.

The pre-prototype model in this video is without the 'computer interface' or the massive selection of sounds that 'Digital Sound Modeling' provides in the final designs. It does however show a working plan of the instruments play surface and introduces some performance techniques used to play it.

With this extensive control over twelve separately effected yet harmonically interwoven groups of strings, a completely astounding and tailorable three dimensional surround sound spectrum becomes available.

The StringStation is my main focus artistically. I have advanced my performance skills with it and look forward to construction and serious surround recording to begin. It is about human endeavor, evolution and artistic communication, there are so many new sounds waiting within it. Once the instrument is built and implemented, I feel certain that an unprecedented wondrous music will appear. It's going to be sophisticated, ultimately human and breathing in a beautiful way.

I'm inspired by the creative freedoms and convictions I've seen in the lives and works of such diverse people as Di Vinci, Galileo, Hendrix and The Beatles. This is a sonic expedition that utilizes all of my fascinations and talents as a recording artist and engineer.

I am focused like an athlete and hope these efforts will attract like-minded artists and friends of the arts to join in and push past boundaries of music, in both surround recording sessions and imaginative live multimedia performances designed to engage and inspire.

The music is going to be exotic and innovative at a world class level- documenting and evolving new music possibilities - sonically, visually and theatrically.

We can indeed make our own roads when the ones that already exist don't go to where we dream to be.
